Moderation

As an ITO FITEC is responsible for moderating assessment nationally in FITEC managed unit standards.

“Moderation” means auditing or checking assessments to make sure they are consistently assessed to the national standard expected by the employers FITEC represents.

Over 50% of all assessment nationally in FITEC managed unit standards actually occurs outside workplaces overseen by FITEC e.g. there is more assessment in chainsaw use by people working in agriculture than forestry!
