The Review Process
Key stages of the review process:
- NZQA will trigger the review - the review ‘trigger date’ for FITEC qualifications is Quarter 2, 2012. For competitive manufacturing qualifications the review ‘trigger date’ is Quarter 1 2012.
- Plan the review and submit a review plan – FITEC must submit this plan to NZQA within three month of the allocated ‘trigger date’.
- Conduct the review – FITEC must complete this within six months of the review ‘trigger date’. The review will be carried out in consultation with all stakeholders through governance and advisory groups that will be established before the review commences. All stakeholders must be invited to participate in the review.
- FITEC will report to NZQA on the review with recommendations for qualifications and a timeframe for implementation of the changes. NZQA will expect this report within six months of the ‘trigger date’ for the review.
- Implement the recommendation changes within the agreed timeframe.
Action required for conducting the review:
- Confirm all the qualifications that should be included in the review
- Establish a stakeholder profile to ensure all stakeholders are included in the consultation process
- Map existing qualifications to workforce requirements using identified roles/skill sets
- Consult with stakeholders to confirm the current and future needs of industry and revise the qualification pathways to meet these needs.
- Determine actions to be recommended to revise the qualifications
