TRAINEESHIPS

To be a trainee, you need to:

- Have a signed Training Agreement with Fitec and your employer. You must also work towards
the completion of a National Certificate qualification.
- Have a Training Plan, drawn up by you and your employer, which shows
the qualification you want to complete, the timeframe for completion
and how you and your employer will work together towards the achievement
of the unit standards

A SHARED COMMITMENT

The employer must provide opportunities for training on and off the job. The trainee must commit to undertake and complete the training agreed to in the Training Plan.

MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS

The Modern Apprenticeship programme helps people who are new to forest industries to become achievers by:

- Providing coaching right from the start
- Providing high quality training leading to a National Certificate
- Identifying strengths and weaknesses early on, and quickly filling in any knowledge and skill gaps
- Developing relevant Training Plans that help apprentices complete their qualification
- Establishing a fixed time frame (agreed between the employer and apprentice at the start) for the apprentice to complete his or her training.
TO QUALIFY AS AN APPRENTICE, YOU NEED TO:

- Be aged between 16 and 21 on entry to the programme
- Have a Training Agreement with Fitec & an employer to train for a National
Certificate at Level 3 or Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework,
as well as a Training Agreement registered with FITEC
- Be enrolled with a modern Apprenticeship Co-ordinator with FITEC
- Have an individual Training Plan managed by FITEC.
A SHARED COMMITMENT

Employers commit to helping their apprentices complete their Training Plans, and to provide the on-job training opportunities agreed to. Apprentices must commit to undertake and complete the training agreed to in the Training Plan.
